Theme: Teamwork – There is no I in teamwork Facility:Occupied in 1955, the building sits on 15 acres of land.  Technology is integrated throughout the building as well as in our computer lab.  A lovely outdoor classroom/courtyard provides many learning experiences for all grade levels.  The school underwent a complete renovation which was completed in the of Fall 1999.

Visitors: SafeVisitor™ software is used in each building to provide a safe environment. Please make sure you have your I.D. ready to scan upon arrival. All visitors are asked to enter through the front door and report to the office. Visitors must sign in and receive a guest pass to go beyond the reception area. Parents are always welcome at Westlake Elementary and may visit at any time. However, an appointment should always be made with the teacher in order to have a conference. By scheduling an appointment to discuss student progress and concerns, we are not disrupting classroom instruction.

Absences/Attendance: If your child is absent from school, please call the 24 Hour Attendance Line at 317-988-6950 before 10 a.m. Homework requests need to be made at this time. If contact is not made between the school and the parent, your child will automatically receive an unexcused absence for that day. Absences are classified as excused for three reasons only.

Tardies: Students are to be in their classroom when the bell rings at 7:30 a.m., otherwise they are tardy. If a student is tardy, an adult must accompany him/her to the office. Students who do not ride the bus need to understand that weather, traffic, car problems, etc., are not excuses to be tardy.

Student Drop-off/Pick-up: Student drop-off begins at 7:15 a.m. and student pick-up begins at 2:20 p.m. in the south parking lot. Do not drop students off early.

Report Cards: Report cards are issued every nine weeks in Wayne Township. Performance Reports are issued in the middle of each grading period to those students needing improvements or showing significant positive or negative change.
